We value your ideas and encourage you to share your perspective as we transform our systems.To be successful as a Senior Software Engineer, you should have experience with:Extensive experience working with large legacy applications, including troubleshooting, adding new features and applying strategies to modernize and integrate monolithic architectures.Java development, with the ability to design and implement enterprise-grade applications using object-oriented design approaches and optimize performance.SQL, including writing advanced queries, tuning database performance, and ensuring data integrity across large-scale transactional systems.Some other highly valued skills may include:Designing secure and scalable RESTful APIs with clear documentation and versioning best practices.Practical experience with application servers, ideally JBoss, including deploying, configuring, and tuning applications for high availability and resilience in production environments.Familiarity with distributed systems concepts and modernization approaches, even if microservices adoption is limited due to legacy constraints.You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.This role will be based in Fleet.Purpose of the roleTo design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.AccountabilitiesDevelopment and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
