Position Overview: As a Specialty Doctor in Forensic Psychiatry, you will play a pivotal role in providing expert psychiatric assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation services to individuals within forensic mental health settings. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care to patients with complex mental health needs, including those within secure hospitals, prisons, and community forensic services. Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and formulate individualized treatment plans for patients within forensic mental health services. Provide expert psychiatric treatment and management for patients with a range of mental health disorders and forensic histories, including personality disorders, psychosis, and substance misuse. Participate in risk assessments, risk management, and care planning to ensure the safety and well-being of patients, staff, and the public. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including psychologists, nurses, social workers, and occupational therapists, to deliver integrated and holistic care to patients. Engage in clinical governance activities, including audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives, to enhance service provision and patient outcomes. Qualifications: Medical degree and full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC). Completion of core training in psychiatry and relevant experience in forensic psychiatry. Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent professional body. Excellent clinical skills, including psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. Strong communication, interpersonal, and team-working abilities. Commitment to providing high-quality, evidence-based care in forensic mental health settings.
