DT Technician – Food Technology & Textiles Location: Waltham Forest, East London Start: January 2026 Contract: Full-time, Long-term (January–July 2026) Pay: Paid weekly through PAYEIf you enjoy supporting practical lessons, keeping workshops organised, and ensuring a safe learning environment, this DT Technician role could be ideal for you.We are partnering with a well-equipped secondary school in Waltham Forest seeking a DT Technician (Food Technology & Textiles) to assist teachers and students. You’ll play an essential role in ensuring lessons run safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.What you’ll be doing:Food Technology Support Preparing ingredients and setting up cooking stations Managing food stock, checking expiry dates, and ensuring safe storage Maintaining hygiene standards across kitchens and equipment Supporting food safety compliance Textiles Support Setting up and maintaining sewing machines and textile equipment Preparing fabrics, threads, and materials for lessons Assisting students with practical activities such as sewing and dyeing Organising and maintaining textile resources General Responsibilities Supporting teachers and students during practical lessons Ensuring compliance with health & safety, risk assessments, and COSHH Managing resources, stock control, and storage areas Assisting with displays, admin tasks, and day-to-day department needs Creating a safe, positive, and well-organised learning environment What the school is looking for: Practical, hands-on individual with strong organisational skills Good understanding of health, safety, and hygiene procedures Ability to work independently and as part of a team Confident communication skills with young people Previous school or workshop experience is desirable but not essential What you get with Protocol Education: Weekly PAYE pay — no umbrella companies Dedicated consultant support throughout your placement Free access to our online CPD Academy Opportunities across mainstream, SEND, and alternative settings Simple registration and fast-start process Referral bonus for recommending a friend If you’re an organised and proactive DT Technician ready to support creative learning in a Waltham Forest secondary school, we’d love to hear from you.Apply today to discuss this exciting opportunity.All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
