We currently have an opportunity for a Policy and Project Officer, Aboriginal Strategies and Programs to join our team. Under limited direction of the Coordinator Aboriginal Engagement and Heritage Unit, this position will contribute to, or lead the department’s involvement in, and implementation of, Aboriginal strategies and programs. Key responsibilities will include: Participating in, or leading, projects to meet the department’s responsibilities under whole-of-government Aboriginal strategies and programs, and departmental initiatives. Developing and delivering advice, training and communication materials that help to build the cultural competency and capacity within the department. Assists with the development, implementation and review of policies, strategies, training, and programs to enhance the department’s capacity to meet responsibilities associated with Aboriginal engagement and Heritage. Assist with the administration, implementation and management of projects and programs in the Unit’s portfolio. At the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), we have adopted which provides a common understanding of the mindsets and expected behaviours required of all our employees and the public sector. In this role, you will demonstrate to help drive positive change. Selection CriteriaApplicants should address the following four (4) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total. Considerable experience in working with government and Aboriginal organisations, demonstrating well-developed cross-cultural understanding that helps to achieve positive outcomes for traditional owners through cooperative and collaborative approaches. Demonstrated ability to effectively research, analyse, organize, develop, and present information of a high quality, in a range of forums and formats. Developed project management skills and the capacity to work under minimal supervision, as well as work under pressure to achieve results. Well-developed interpersonal skills with a proven ability to be part of multidisciplinary teams.
