Job description Prospero Teaching is recruiting a dedicated and experienced SENCo to join a specialist secondary school in Portsmouth that supports pupils with a range of special educational needs and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. This is a rewarding opportunity to lead and shape inclusive practice in a nurturing and highly supportive environment.Start Date: ASAP Contract Type: Permanent or Temp-to-Perm Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance Hours: Full-Time About the Role As SENCo, you will: Lead the development and delivery of the school’s SEND strategy Coordinate provision for pupils with SEN and SEMH needs, ensuring tailored support and measurable progress Work closely with teaching staff, support teams, and external agencies to implement effective interventions Oversee EHCPs, referrals, and statutory reviews, maintaining accurate records and compliance Provide training and guidance to staff to promote inclusive and trauma-informed practice Champion a whole-school approach to wellbeing, resilience, and personalised learning What We’re Looking For Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Experience in a SENCo role or a strong interest in SEND/SEMH with a willingness to undertake SENCo training Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills A commitment to inclusive education and pupil wellbeing SENCo training will be provided for the right candidate.
