Consultant – Learning Disability Psychiatry – Swansea

Cpl UK Healthcare (formally RIG Locums) are currently looking for a General Adult Consultant, NHS based in Swansea, South Wales. The role offers highly negotiable rates for a dedicated psychiatrist. The trust seeks an enthusiastic Consultant in Learning disability Psychiatry to work full-time and it would be excellent for someone wanting to broaden their experience of community/inpatient psychiatry and develop their clinical skills in a supportive and challenging environment. The team is well established with good support from senior clinical and managerial colleagues. Key Responsibilities: You will provide a clinical service, with colleagues, which will include the responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness Working with consultant colleagues and the multi-professional team you will have continuing responsibility for the well-being of all patients under your care; allowing for proper delegation to, and training of staff. In partnership with clinical and managerial colleagues you will also have responsibility for the safe, efficient and effective functioning of the services in which you work in line with the values, operational policies and integrated medium term plan (IMTP) of the Health Board. You are encouraged to consider how services can be improved and to report any concerns about safety The successful candidate will be based in Swansea but will travel to various locations within their geographical area of Swansea. Additionally, they may be required at times to travel to other locations within the health board. Travel times to locations away from the doctor’s base will be included in the doctors working time. Travel expenses can be claimed in line with health board policy The principal duty of this post is to provide clinical leadership to, and to be responsible for the delivery of patient care for Swansea locality The post holder will be part of a multi-professional team which includes Medical staff, Nurses, Social Workers, Support Workers, Psychologists and Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech and Language Therapists. You will provide a clinical service, with colleagues, which will include the responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness. The post-holder will be expected to work closely with Consultant colleagues providing unscheduled care in order to ensure continuity of the care pathways The post-holder will be expected to work closely with other colleagues in Learning Disabilities and Mental Health to offer a flexible service. The post-holder is expected to demonstrate a commitment to delivering excellence in clinical care, to work effectively with multi-disciplinary community teams and inpatient teams to promote the safety and well-being of the patients.
