Job DescriptionLighting/Electrical Design EngineerLocation: (open to candidates anywhere between Newcastle and York as hybrid working available)SummaryDue to increased workload a leading infrastructure consultancy are looking to hire a Lighting / Electrical Design Engineer to join their Consulting Energy, Lighting & Technology Practice based in the North EastYou will be working on the delivery of the South West and North East Trunk Road Network Management Contracts, and Intelligent Transport Infrastructure.These long-term contracts involve designing some of the largest civil engineering and associated infrastructure projects in Scotland with cumulative values in-excess of £1bn.The roleAs a Lighting/Electrical Design Engineer you will be responsible for or assist with:- Developing effective concept design solutions that are consistent with the project brief.- Undertake a wide range of design work on all aspects of the functions design and maintenance.- Implement effective, value for money and innovative design solutions to meet technical and project requirements.- Progress projects through preliminary and detailed design with emphasis on client requirements and ensure innovation and best practice is highlighted and adopted where practicable.- Drive effective health and safety practices within your team.- Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, particularly the CDM regulations.- Supervise, mentor and develop team members.- Assist with contract preparation together with project planning and programming.- Project administration reporting to the Project Manager including monitoring programme delivery, resources and budgets inspection work, feasibility studies, cost estimating for works and fees.- Support the preparation of bids and delivery of services on other contracts.- Inspection work, feasibility studies, cost estimating for works and fees.- Effective management and response of project related correspondence.- Checks to ensure compliance with the integrated management system and assist in development.- Prepare technical reports (e.g. Feasibility/Options Reports, Assessment Reports and other technical reports).- Development of engineering solutions and presentation of engineering options.- Liaise with the Client and our Community partners to ensure solutions that are developed are suitable for buildability and maintainability.- Keep up to date with your own personal development to ensure the natural growth of the team and progression with your chosen professional institution.Requirements for the Lighting/Electrical Design Engineer role- Able to demonstrate experience and expertise within the relevant technical field (roads highways ideally)- Able to produce technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements, working under supervision- Experienced in following procedures associated with health, safety and welfare.- You are able to comply with technical governance procedures within a consulting engineering environment- You have made progress towards completion of a formal professional training programme with an appropriate professional bodySalary: Circa £40,000 - £45,000 negotiable dependant on experience
