The school will cater for young people aged 11–16 who require support with socialmunication, emotional regulation and sensory processing, typically associated with Autism. Students will access a broad and exciting curriculum, aligned to the national curriculum but personalised to meet their needs, interests and passions. With small class sizes, high levels of classroom support, and a dedicated multidisciplinary intervention team, the school will provide every opportunity for students to achieve. This is an exciting opportunity to join the school at the very start of its journey.Your new role The teacher will deliver high-quality teaching and learning for children and young people with socialmunication, emotional regulation and sensory processing needs, typically associated with autism. Some pupils may have multiple learning difficulties and may present with challenging behaviours.Key DutiesContribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, considering the educational, physical and social needs of studentsWork collaboratively with colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary teamMaintain and use short, medium and long-term plans in delivering the curriculumSet, monitor and review personalised targets to optimise learning for each individual.Monitor, assess, review and report on student progress to parents, staff, and external bodies.Develop lesson plans and self-reflect on ouesContribute to the review of Statements, EHCPs, PEPs and LAC reviewsProvide clear lesson structures that maintain pace, motivation and challengeStay informed on current issues in autism and SEND to plan effective teachingManage challenging behaviours in line with school policy and proceduresDuties will vary, and flexibility is expected to support the wider needs of the school.What you'll need to succeed PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualification, with evidence of in-service trainingAbility to teach History and Geography up to and including GCSE levelWorking knowledge of students withplex needs and SENDSound knowledge of the national curriculumUnderstanding and experience of autism and associated conditions, and how these affect learningExperience in curriculum development and implementation for pupils with SENDWhat you'll get in return We believe in supporting our staff as much as we support our students.
