About the role
Due to the growth of Hargreaves Lansdown's Finance function, we have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for an experienced Finance Business Partner to join our Commercial Finance team.As Finance Business Partner (FBP), you will be responsible for providing all financial support to the product, channel, or line-of-business. This includes being accountable for all financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. The FBP will deliver insightful analysis and robust financial controls, ensuring delivery of the plan, including the management of both risk and opportunity.
What you'll be doing
Finance Business Partner to the HL Product Director (Investment & Retirement), forming part of the product leadership Team
Co-Create the Three-Year Plan (3YP) and Budget
Deliver the Budget, ensuring risks and opportunities are proactively identified and mitigated / acted upon
Income Statement & Balance Sheet responsibility, spanning both Underlying & Strategic investment
Lead on cost leadership, championing 'Save to Invest' and the pursuit of efficiency. Drive profitable growth, and positive operating leverage
Own Finance Management Information, ensuring 'financials' are underpinned by 'non-financial' insights, working closely with Data Team colleagues
Own forecasting by ensuring projections are underpinned with commercial rationale, and activity driven wherever possible e.g. New Business sales pipeline x conversion x revenue x direct costs
Own investment analysis; including by not limited to; propositional development, pricing, incentives, OD investment. Ensure appropriate challenge of any investment with delivery of the 'line of business' OKR's and the overall HL 3YP and Budget
Create profitability analysis, working across the business and broader Finance team
Ensure alignment with Consumer Duty framework and our Assessment of Value obligations
Be a balanced voice of the client, colleague, and shareholder
Ensure finance risk and controls maturity. Risks are identified and registered, and remediation plans put into place and delivered
Support and where appropriate lead on competitor analysis to inform propositional investment opportunities, activity & cost benchmarking etc.
Intimately understand the 'line of business' proposition, its clients and their journeys. Help the leadership understand the revenue and cost opportunities and how product and journey design impacts financial performance
Work across Financial Control and Commercial Finance to ensure best practice ways of working.
About you
Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ACA) with current technical knowledge and post qualification experience
Ability to understand the strategic business goals of an organisation, including revenue streams and pricing, with the ability to 'look beyond the numbers' and understand the wider business context
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights
Ability to work flexibly with conflicting demands so that work is scheduled to meet changing priorities and deadlines, with the ability to plan and organise own workload effectively and get things done.
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve issues proactively
Strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities, with advanced Excel skills
Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation
Proactive, results-oriented, and commercial mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast paced, high growth environment
A clear and logical approach to problem solving with the ability to interpret both financial and non-financial impacts of commercial decisions.
Interview process
The selection process will incorporate competency-based questions including an assessment of your technical knowledge and transferable skills. For candidates who progress to the next stage, there will be a presentation to prepare and deliver.
Working Schedule
This role is based in Bristol head office, BS1 5HL. This role is permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We have returned to the office, however for this role we offer a hybrid flexible working pattern to enable you the option of working from home and coming into the office circa 3 times a week.
