Consultant in Care of the Elderly

We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in Care of the Elderly on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful department.. Our client are an integrated organisation providing services from the newly built spectacular, light, airy, high-tech and ecologically-friendly building. The landmark development, in the West Midlands, heralds a new dawn for healthcare in the town and brings all of the hospital's services under one roof. This new hospital comprises of State of the art Outpatient, diagnostic and treatment facilities for short stay cases whilst the upgraded older building provides emergency care for emergency patients. The Trust has a state of the art Palliative Care Centre which is the base for a wide range of palliative care and end of life services, working closely with St Giles Hospice who provide the beds on site for end of life care. With an income with over £220 Million and employment of over 4000 making them one of the largest employers in the West Midlands, the appointee will be joining an organisation aiming to meet patient needs by delivering services at the place of the patient's choice and with the provision of acute admission facilitiesThe successful appointee will be asked to fulfil various duties, such as: have a responsibility to provide a high quality clinical care to patients in Elderly Care and General Internal Medicine services and to continuously update practice based on evidence based medicine and audit, provide advice to colleagues in other specialties on elderly patients with problems, provide a comprehensive Out-patient service for elderly medicine for frailty band comprehensive geriatric assessment, Proactively engage with the multi-disciplinary team within Intermediate Care Services offering specialist advice and support as required, provide support to the Primary Care Team (Frail and Elderly Pathway) for the management of patients in the community and Nursing homes, support teaching and training of nurses, junior medical staff, medical students and to contribute to postgraduate medical education in general, undertake educational/clinical supervisor duties for junior doctors & support and encourage audit and research.Our client's location provides the best of both worlds, where there are high quality housing and schools, a thriving restaurant and theatre scene, excellent transport links to London & a beautiful East of England location with a great rural outdoors area.Additional Information - 10 P.A's - Prestigious NHS Trust - A well supported & friendly team - Must have GMC Registration - Outstanding Schools within public and private sectors - Opportunity to work and develop personal interests in various geriatric sub specialties This is a Consultant in Care of the Elderly vacancy.
