Social Worker – Children with Disabilities Team
2 weeks ago
We are seeking a Social Worker, who is eager to progress and be part of a service, that is dedicated to providing the best outcomes for children with disabilities in Peterborough.
This is an opportunity for you to be part of a dynamic team who support families from the first point of contact, all the way through to adulthood. This role is based within the Peterborough area, and our team are working within a hybrid model that enables working from home as well as being based at Sand Martin House, Peterborough.
We believe in giving young people and their families choice, control and flexibility in how they manage their support needs, and the right to access inclusive services and be a part of their own community. Social workers will be expected to use a Person-Centred Planning approach in seeking the views, wishes and feelings of the children and young people we work with.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a lively and dynamic team which acts as the first point of contact for disabled children who require a social care assessment in the Peterborough area, as well as supporting children with lifelong disabilities on a long-term basis. The team regularly undertake safeguarding enquiries and court work and therefore experience of statutory safeguarding practice is required. The team also supports a number of children who are Looked After and experience in this area would be desirable. We work very closely with our partner agencies to support children with disabilities and their families.
We are looking for qualified social workers with at least 1 year, post qualifying experience who is highly motivated, experienced and committed to working with disabled children and their families. The role offers excellent training opportunities and a chance to play a real part in the creation of a very rewarding and dedicated service.
We recognise the importance of transferable skills, and we provide a focused induction, so there is no requirement to have previous experience of working within a disabled children's team.
For many Social Workers, it is about making a difference. When you work in the 0-18 Children with Disability Team, you really can.
Don't just take our word for it, here's what some of our current team members have to say:
"I was given opportunities for regular supervisions as well as reflective supervisions from the team manager and the senior practitioners."
"I am coming to the end of my AYSE and have felt very supported throughout my journey by the team, senior practitioners and the team manager. I have had a vast variety of learning opportunities to develop my knowledge skills and experience within the 0-18 Children with
Disabilities Team."
"Since I began my post within the team I have found it to be a very dynamic and diverse environment that challenges my practice and supports my learning and development. I have found it a rewarding area of social work and enjoy supporting children with lifelong disabilities and their families to achieve good outcomes. I also appreciate the emphasis on multi agency working across health, education and social care, to ensure the needs are children are met and that they are safe from harm. The multi-agency care plans for children really help to progress their journey and improve their outcomes"
This is a great opportunity for you to work within a diverse and supportive team who will empower you to make important decisions and find creative solutions to challenging situations.
