Interview date: Wednesday 21 May Job Purpose: The Class Teacher will: teach a class of children, ensuring that planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs; provide high quality teaching, effective use of resources and the highest standards of care, learning and achievement for all; maintain the positive ethos of the school, both inside and outside the classroom; contribute to constructive team-building amongst teaching and non-teaching staff, parents and governors; ensure quality of education is high across the school through contributing to whole school CPD and developing subject expertise; adhere to the National Standards for Teachers Duties: The Class Teacher will: implement agreed school policies and guidelines; support initiatives decided by the Headteacher and staff; create a safe classroom culture, in which children feel secure and confident and rigorously uphold school safeguarding procedures; plan appropriately to meet the needs of all children; be able to set clear targets, based on prior attainment, for children’s learning; provide a stimulating classroom environment, where resources can be accessed appropriately by all children; use teaching strategies that engage children and promote a love of learning; keep appropriate and efficient records, making use of formative and summative assessment, providing incisive feedback to the children and using high quality questioning to drive their curiosity; report to parents on the development, progress and attainment of children; use positive classroom management strategies, in accordance with the school's behaviour policy; participate in meetings which relate to the school's management, curriculum, administration or organisation; plan effectively to meet the needs of children with Special Educational Needs / Disabilities and in collaboration with the SENCo, prepare, implement, monitor and review provision; communicate and co-operate with specialists from outside agencies; lead, organise and direct support staff within the classroom; lead a subject area across the school if required; participate in the performance management system for the appraisal of their own performance, or that of other teachers/ teaching assistants.
