Our Reward function sits in HR and is responsible for the policy, design and innovation of our pay and benefits strategy across abrdn. The remit of the team is to create an attractive pay and benefits offering to enable the attraction and retention of talent across the organisation.
The team now had an exciting opportunity for a Pensions Manager to work with reward and wider HR colleagues, as well as the pension scheme Trustees and their advisers, in the running of abrdn's pension scheme arrangements.
Key activities int he role will include:
Pension Management & Operational Oversight:
Successfully manage the abrdn UK and Ireland pension arrangements
Oversee complex employee pension queries and complaints
Provide SME support in TUPE, acquisition and merger projects. Lead if requirements for Pensions Consultation.
Review audit and renewal data prepared by Pensions Consultant
Oversee annual benefits renewal and bonus sacrifice project
Ensure compliance with auto enrolment employer obligations
Review group life accounts and oversea death in service claims
Keep abreast of statutory regulations and legal changes affecting pension plans. Drive team forward in implementing any change necessary to comply with these changes.
Attend quarterly Trustee meetings and provide abrdn HR updates and confirm any actions abrdn may need to take as a result of actions taken by Trustees or company.
Chair the abrdn GFRP Forum and laisse with forum members quarterly regarding provider performance and any changes required.
Oversee Global Pension Schemes, set strategy and ensure any legislative changes are implemented
Oversee the team budgets and look for ways to make savings and efficiencies where possible. Attend quarterly budget calls with advisors to monitor these costs.
Manage supplier contracts and perform provider reviews
Lead and manage any employer nominated Trustee recruitment
Strategic Development:
Support on key strategic pension projects (entity changes, T&Cs changes)
Oversee the Financial Wellness Offering available to staff and help promote with pensions consultant
Develop and oversee implementation of pension changes in response to changes/improvements in the market.
Review Fund performance of schemes and take action where required on default strategies
Support the overall group sustainability plans and how these apply to the Trustees priorities
Team Management:
Manage and develop Pensions Consultant in the team
Perform regular one to ones and provide performance review feedback
Set a clear set of goals and allocate projects
Communication and Reporting:
Review and present abrdn board papers to deliver important pension changes
Provide regular updates to senior stakeholders on highly strategic pension projects and provide an annual update to the compensation committee
Develop communication strategies to promote pension scheme benefits.
Liaise with trustees and their advisors and abrdn pension suppliers
Monitor pension scheme performance across
Contribute to annual financial reports and make recommendations for scheme improvements based on member feedback and performance
What we're looking for:
Proven Pensions experience from financial or professional services, ideally with global exposure
In-depth working knowledge of pensions regulations and legislation
Strong understanding of pension trusteeship
Excellent communication and relationship management skills
