We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in Haematology on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Haematology department.Our client currently provides general hospital services to a population of approximately 500,000 & some tertiary referral, specialist services to a considerably larger population of 1.2 Million. Clinical Haematology forms its own Directorate within the Cancer Services Division. The Oncology Centre is based within the Hospital and receives approximately 8000 new referrals each year. The Centre has a custom designed department which opened in April 1993 and dedicated radiotherapy facilities. The Centre serves a population of 1.2 million and covers various areas & the Centre provides a comprehensive service for adult solid tumours.The successful appointee will be joining a department, where the appointee will be expected to undertake various duties within the department. These include: participation in provide a high quality services for haematology patients and excellent laboratory services. This will include participation in running a general (clinical and laboratory) haematological service and participating in the MDMs and on-call rota, maintain and further develop BSH level 2 haemato-oncology service for the Trust, including the development of a single multi-disciplinary team and development of the haemato-oncology protocols across the Trust and for the Kent Cancer Network.
