In this key role you'll be responsible for assessing water quality risk at network depots to deliver regulatory obligations associated with Drinking Water Safety Plans (DWSPs).

What you'll be doing as a Water Quality Scientist Complete Regulation risk assessments for network depots in line with Drinking Water Safety Plan (DWSP) obligations. Travel to depot sites across the Thames Water area will be necessary. Complete DWSP updates on the company's bespoke DWSP IT system to meet regulatory requirements and internal programme. Actively seek to develop expertise in water quality aspects of distribution water quality, as well as regulatory requirements relating to DWSPs. Participate in the Water Quality Risk Review process to validate existing DWSP risks and identify emerging ones, escalating significant risks within governance parameters. Participate in routine system management activities for DWSP IT to ensure regulatory obligations can be met. This is a hybrid role . Base Location – Clearwater Court in Reading, RG1 2DB.
Working hours: 8am to 5pm or 9am to 6pm.

What you should bring to the role Be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline. Have water industry experience in a relevant role. Good written and verbal communication skills and an ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders across the business. Be competent in using Microsoft Office software and preferably with some experience using company systems e.g. DWSP IT, EQUIS, Sample Manager. Possess a proactive, can-do attitude as this is key to success in the role. Be open-minded, supporting and developing new methods of working, and able to manage workloads. What's in it for you?
