Clinical Psychologist (Full-Time, Term Time Only)Are you a passionate and experienced Clinical Psychologist looking for a rewarding role where you can make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs? We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join a dedicated, multidisciplinary team at a specialist school that supports children and young people with autism, complex learning needs, and associated social, emotional, and behavioural differences.This is a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist who is committed to improving outcomes for neurodiverse students through evidence-based assessment, intervention, and collaborative practice. Working closely with school leaders, teachers, and therapeutic professionals, you will play a key role in shaping an emotionally nurturing and psychologically informed learning environment.Role Responsibilities:Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussions, developing psychological formulations and intervention plans for pupils with complex needs.Conduct detailed psychological assessments, including cognitive, emotional, and behavioural profiles, to support individualised learning and care plans.Design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based interventions that promote students’ emotional regulation, resilience, and mental health.Provide one-to-one and group therapeutic support where appropriate.Offer consultation, guidance, and training to teachers, support staff, and leadership teams to enhance understanding of autism, trauma, attachment, and neurodevelopmental profiles.Prepare clear and comprehensive psychological reports, communicating findings and recommendations to staff, parents, and external professionals.Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and best practice within the school’s psychological and therapeutic framework.Supervise and support Assistant Psychologists and contribute to staff training and reflective practice sessions.Participate in service development, research, and audit projects to improve the quality and impact of provision.Work collaboratively with families, carers, and outside agencies to ensure holistic and consistent support for each young person.Manage a team of assistant psychologists, counselling therapist, and occupational therapists.Requirements:Doctoral qualification in Clinical Psychology (HCPC registered).Significant experience working as a Clinical Psychologist with children and young people, ideally in educational, CAMHS, or specialist settings.Experience of assessing and supporting young people with autism, learning disabilities, and complex needs.Skilled in psychological formulation, therapeutic intervention, and multi-agency working.A sound understanding of trauma-informed, attachment-aware, and neuro-affirmative practice.Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.Commitment to safeguarding, child protection, and promoting pupil well-being.In Return, You Will Receive:The opportunity to work in a supportive and forward-thinking school environment with access to excellent facilities.Professional autonomy to shape psychological practice and influence whole-school well-being strategies.Regular clinical supervision, CPD opportunities, and access to training to support ongoing professional development.The chance to make a tangible difference in the lives of children and young people with complex needs.If you are an enthusiastic and compassionate Clinical Psychologist who believes in creating positive change through understanding and inclusion, we would love to hear from you.Please “Apply Now” or contact The Education Network Birmingham for more information.
