With a large multi-disciplinary team delivering thousands of projects annually, you'll work alongside civil and structural colleagues and be part of a culture built around quality, ingenuity, partnership and aspiration. In this Senior Geotechnical Engineer position, you'll support planning and engineering teams across a broad project portfolio. You'll specify, manage and interpret investigations, deliver geotechnical assessments, and design practical geotechnical solutions-often as part of wider civil/structural commissions, with some standalone ground engineering projects as required. Typical deliverables you'll produce include: ·Drafting Ground Investigation Reports (geotechnical elements) ·Proof of concept checks ·Mining legacy assessments and specifying mitigation measures ·ULS and SLS analysis for foundations ·Slope stability analysis ·Earthworks settlement analysis ·Earthworks specifications ·Cutting design (including soil nails, anchors or rock bolts) ·Embankment design (including reinforced embankments) ·Drafting Geotechnical Design Reports and Geotechnical Feedback Reports (to CD622) What you'll need to succeed To be effective in this Senior Geotechnical Engineer role, you'll bring strong technical capability alongside confident project and stakeholder management. You'll have: ·A proven project management track record within design and build environments ·Excellent communication skills and confidence building client relationships to support delivery and work winning ·Strong understanding of consultancy/design markets, including work planning and commercial management ·Excellent report writing skills, with the ability to self-check and deliver accurate work ·A degree in civil engineering or geology, plus a postgraduate geotechnical qualification ·Chartered status as a civil engineer or geologist ·Good understanding of EC7 and associated UK design codes ·Experience using specialist geotechnical assessment/design software (Rocscience and Geo5 preferred) ·Experience preparing drawings (ARC GIS and CAD preferred) ·Willingness to travel for short assignments in the UK and overseas ·A valid UK driving licence You'll receive a strong overall package designed to support your life inside and outside work, including: ·25 days annual leave (plus the option to buy, carry over or sell) ·Three volunteering days per year ·Mental health support including Mental Health First Aiders and Unum Help@hand app ·Life assurance, pension scheme and income protection ·Medical insurance, private GP access and discounted gym membership ·Flexible hybrid working approach ·Career development pathway aligned to your professional and personal goals ·Performance bonus, car allowance and additional benefits depending on role level and progression Location and working pattern This Senior Geotechnical Engineer opportunity is based from either Bristol or Cardiff, with an agile/hybrid approach and an expectation of three office days per week.
