Design Apprentice – Facade Sector (Construction)Location: Southampton Full-Time | Permanent | Apprenticeship Opportunity Sector: Facade Design & ConstructionWe’re working with a leading construction specialist in the facade sector who is looking to bring on a Design Apprentice to join their growing design team in Southampton. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to start their career in construction design, with full support, mentoring, and hands-on experience from day one.About the RoleAs a Design Apprentice, you’ll support the design team with a mix of administrative and basic design tasks while learning the principles of facade design and construction. You’ll be involved in real projects, working alongside experienced designers and technical teams, gaining valuable insight into the full design lifecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in preparing design drawings and specificationsHelp organise material samples and supplier informationSupport the team in evaluating subcontractor bids and technical dataLearn to identify design risks and maintain project recordsEngage with estimating, planning, and operations teams to understand project requirementsParticipate in mentoring and CPD activities (minimum 12 hours annually)Promote health & safety, quality, and environmental standards across all tasksAttend meetings with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to observe and learnWhat We’re Looking ForGCSEs (or equivalent) with grades A–C / 9–7 in Maths and EnglishBasicputer literacy, especially in Microsoft OfficeWillingness to learn and grow within a professional design environmentStrong attention to detail and organisational skillsGoodmunication and teamwork abilitiesA proactive mindset with a focus on quality and continuous improvementDesirable (but not essential)HNC or similar qualification in a construction-related fieldWhat’s on OfferStructured apprenticeship with clear progressionMentoring from experienced professionalsExposure to live projects in the facade sectorSupportive team culture and learning environmentOpportunity to build a long-term career in construction designIf you're interested in learning more, please send your CV to J or contact the Hays Southampton office to arrange a confidential discussion about the opportunity. #4734820 - James Mitchell
