I have been assigned by an NHS Trust in the UK to help them recruit a Consultant in Anaesthetics on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months.Our client are the largest Trust in the south-west region and provides medical, surgical, and maternity care for a population of approximately half a million people in various South West areas. It employs more than 9,500 staff, has approximately 1050 inpatient beds and a revenue budget in excess of £540 million. The Trust provides sub regional, regional, and supra regional services in the fields of neurosciences, orthopaedics, pathology, plastic surgery and burns, renal medicine, transplant and urology, vascular surgery, and is the Major Trauma Centre for the West Country. In May 2014 the Trust relocated the majority of its acute services to the Brunel Building, regarded as one of the best hospital facilities in Europe, on the one of the Hospital sites.The appointee will be asked to undertake various duties, these will include: Diagnosis and anaesthetic management of patients for elective and emergency surgery and other conditions requiring general, regional or local anaesthesia and/or sedation, the post holder will be responsible for the clinical management of patients under their care, in liaison with consultant colleagues and for continuity of care when the post holder or colleagues are absent, the post holder may be invited to take a full roll in the on call service at NBT covering all specialites on a 1 in 12 rota, the post-holder will be required to work with and supervise the physician's assistant, teaching and Supervision of Junior Medical Staff & Students, The postholder will be responsible for the professional supervision and management of junior medical staff & the postholder will be required to take part in a Clinical Audit Programme. The Trust has an audit development which supports and monitors such activity.
