What is Merchandising?The Edinburgh Woollen Mill Merchandising team ensure that we have the right products, at the right time, in the right place and in the right quantities. They work closely with our Buying teams to plan and build the correct product ranges that will maximise profit.The Merchandising team is central to our Operation; interacting with our colleagues in stores and online to trade our commercial proposition. Getting our product into stores is another central responsibility of the team, managing relationships from both product supply and distribution to our stores. The role of Merchandising Assistant is a varied one. Key aspects of the role are listed but not limited to the below;Analysiso Buying Meetings- Providing analysis to shape the future product rangeo Trading Analysis- Location performance and insightso Trend Identification- Identifying and sharing data insightso Size Ratio analysis- Ensuring that our product provision meets customers needso Delivery Phasing- Optimising when product needs to be deliveredPricing and Promotionso Compilation of pricing and promotional changes across the departmento Communication to Stores and Online teamsSupplier Liaisono Compilation and provision of information for supplier deliveries to storesDistribution Centre Liaisono Working with colleagues to ensure goods flow smoothlyStock Replenishmento Working to assist the stock allocation team at peak times of activityCreating Purchase Orderso Import Orderso Domestic OrdersThe candidate · Numerate and analytical· Motivated and willing to learn· Organised with a good eye for detail· Good communication skills· A good team player· Experience with Excel Spreadsheets would be ideal but full training will be givenThe Role is very much the first step on a career path in Merchandising. Outlets are located in a wide variety of market and provincial towns across the UK and Ireland.Tourist Shops and Visitor CentresWe have specialty tourist stores, where gift items and other products reflect the stores location. The outlets, which trade under an individual, often local, fascia, are in key tourist locations throughout the UK. Many stores are on busy tourist routes and benefit from coach visits where food service and exhibitions are all part of the attraction.Destination ShoppingThere are Destination Sites which contain all of the Company's concepts and other brands to increase their attractiveness as a retail destination.
