PHP/Laravel Developer Permanent | £40,-£50, DOE | Hybrid (1-2 days in office, rest remote) | Office commutable from Birmingham (West Midlands)Are you an experienced PHP/Laravel Developer looking to take on a role where you'll work on exciting projects and be part of a forward-thinking development team? We're partnering with a growing tech business that is looking to add a Software Developer to their engineering function.The RoleAs a Software Developer, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality, secure, and scalable software. You'll play a key role in building and maintaining modern web applications, liaising with clients, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and to spec. Beyond coding, you'll have the opportunity to guide junior developers, share knowledge, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the team.What You'll Be DoingDeveloping robust applications using PHP and LaravelWorking with modern stacks such as TALL (Tailwind, Alpine.js, Laravel, Livewire)Designing and maintaining MySQL databasesBuilding responsive front-end solutions (HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks)Creating and consuming RESTful APIsManaging code with Git and using Docker/CI/CD for deploymentsWorking within Linux environments and leveraging AWS services (EC2, ECS, S3, Lambda, etc.)Collaborating with clients, clearly communicating progress and technical conceptsMentoring junior developers and supporting knowledge sharing across the teamSkills & Experience We're Looking ForStrong commercial experience with PHP and Laravel Experience with front-end frameworks such as Alpine.js or Vue.jsMySQL and database design principlesFamiliarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Linux CLIExperience with cloud environments (ideally AWS)Bonus Skills (not essential):PythonGraphQL / Shopify integrationsUnit testing (PHP Unit)Ecommerce platforms (Magento, Shopify, WooCommerce, etc.)Mobile application developmentExposure to Machine Learning / AIBenefits28 days holiday, plus 1 extra day for every year of serviceFriendly, no-stress working environment with a supportive teamOpportunities to expand your skillset & work with new technologiesA learning budget to spend on conferences, books, and trainingOccasional treats and meals to celebrate team milestones and winsUp-to-date equipment and the right tools for the jobA comfortable office with plenty of free parkingPension schemeCompetitive salary (£40,-£50, depending on experience)Hybrid working with 1-2 days per week in the office (commutable from Birmingham, West Midlands)Why Apply?This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business that values innovation, collaboration, and high coding standards.
