We’re looking for a dynamic, compassionate, and skilled Specialist SEND Teacher to join our Foundation Learning department and help shape the future for our students.As our Specialist SEND Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality teaching and targeted interventions for learners across Foundation Learning programmes based at multiple college campuses. Supporting students with a range of complex needs, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, you’ll ensure every learner has access to a consistent, engaging, and inclusive education. This is a varied and rewarding role involving everything from 1:1 and small group support for disengaged learners, to providing cover across programmes and advising colleagues on effective SEND and SEMH strategies. You’ll be a calm and professional presence in the classroom, promoting emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and inclusive teaching across a dynamic and diverse provision. We have an exciting opportunity join our Foundation Learning Department as SEND Teacher on a fixed-term (until July 2026), full-time (35 hours per week) basis. At The Manchester College, you will be supported by our Teaching Academy to work towards qualified teacher status for post 16 compulsory education, through a Cert Ed/PGCE. This includes 3-4 hours delivery per week and engagement with a mentor to support your progress in the profession while you work. The starting salary for an unqualified teacher is between £28,300.00 – £30,307.50*. It’s a great way to kick-start a rewarding career with full training and support. Once you’ve successfully qualified and demonstrated your teaching competence, you’ll progress to the qualified teacher salary banding. *Consideration will be given to relevant industry experience and skills with the flexibility to offer increased starting salaries in some circumstances*. Skills, Qualifications and Experience To be successful in this role, you will need: Certificate of education or PGCE. Current and valid industry specialism. Assessor qualifications (if required by Awarding Organisation). Minimum Level 3 occupational qualification. English and maths minimum level 2 Grace C or grade 4 and above. Significant Experience of delivering outstanding teaching and learning. Proven track record of high-quality teaching in delivering subject specialism or current valid industry. Working as a team. Verbal and written communication skills. Meet delivery targets and plans. Accurate and timely reports and records. Positive contribution to planning processes.
