You’ll run short, high-impact groups, provide 1:1 tutoring, and support exam craft—comprehension, comparison, language and structure, and extended responses. You’ll create lean resources, model planning and paragraphing, and keep tight progress notes so next steps are clear.Who you are: A clear communicator who can break complex ideas into simple, memorable steps. You’re organised, responsive to feedback, and able to keep sessions brisk and purposeful without losing rapport.RequirementsDegree – 2:2 or above in any subject.Communication – Strong verbal and written skills.Enhanced DBS – Held already or willingness to obtain.Desire to work in education/with children – Real interest in literacy and pupil progress.Experience working with children – Any relevant experience (tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.The School: This ‘Good’ Edgbaston secondary serves a diverse intake and runs calm corridors with clear, consistent behaviour routines. English is a well-led department with shared schemes of learning, model answers, and banked retrieval activities that make intervention efficient. Regular low-stakes assessment informs next teaching steps, and protected intervention slots mean your sessions aren’t squeezed.
