Job description Secondary QTS Tutor Are you a nurturing, patient, and compassionate individual with a passion for supporting students who are disengaged from mainstream education? Prospero Teaching are seeking dedicated QTS Tutors, or Teachers with Qualified Teacher Status, to support disengaged students in the Alnwick area. These young people are not currently accessing mainstream education as a result of SEND, SEMH, permanent exclusion and various other reasons. We are looking for Specialist QTS Tutors to work with Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, covering Maths, English and Functional Skills, who can provide a safe, encouraging, and empowering learning environment to re-engage them in their learning journey. The Opportunity You will be supporting young people on a 1-1 or small group basis who are not currently accessing full time education for various reasons. Many of our young people have not attended school for some time and may have emotional barriers to learning. As a result, we are seeking nurturing QTS Tutors with a patient, flexible approach and a passion for working closely with students to overcome barriers to learning. Sessions will take place face to face in a community setting such as a youth centre, family hub or community centre Your role with us: · Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition in Maths and English, supporting with GCSE and Functional Skills Entry level 3, Level 1 or Level 2. · Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that address individual learning gaps. · Monitor student progress · Create a supportive and motivating learning environment to help students re-build their confidence in learning. · Complete daily attendance and weekly reports. Role details: · Pay rate up to GBP30 per hour depending on qualification and/or experience · Up to 6 hours per week per student · Start date: September 2025 · Location: Alnwick – NE66 · Duration: ongoing, with the aim to reintegrate the student back into mainstream education · Access to our Resource Hub, which includes learning materials · Access to CPD accredited courses and training To be eligible for the QTS Tutor role, you need: · Previous experience working with young people with SEND such as young people with ADHD, SEMH and students who have been permanently excluded – this role is great for those with previous experience within a PRU. · QTS or QTLS qualification · Hold the right to work in the UK · Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application · Be able to reference the last two years of education/employment
