Here at Saint-Gobain Abrasives, we're looking for a R&D Engineer to be based at our site in Staverton. This is a perm role working 37 hours per week Mon-Friday onsite. This role sits within EMEA so travelling to Europe/internationally will be required.
Saint-Gobain Abrasives manufactures and distributes high quality abrasive products to engineering, distribution and retail markets in the UK.
The purpose of the role is to support Saint-Gobain Abrasives UK strategy by developing the Staverton plant performance and process capability in electroplating area, laboratory, and site function. You'll also lead Research & Development projects across EMEA business in collaboration with our Sales and Application Engineers Teams, by improving and developing our European market for Diamond Roller Dressers.
What you'll be doing:
Research & Development:
Develop and provide to our industrial customers technical options and innovation projects which can support and give commercial and/or technical advantages. Participate in definition and rationalization of industrial ranges. Analyse, deploy and finalize the process of specific tools and solutions required by customers. Provide technical sales assistance, for complex projects discussion with customer regarding their application and their expectations with a view to developing/providing optimal solutions.Process Development & growth
Coordinate our electroplating process controls by implementing and improving the right procedures, checks, audits and approving new run cards from new customer requests in collaboration with plating and design teams. Support controls of our laboratory tests with the production team. Implement suitable product and process changes to satisfy Customer Specific Requirements and that of the Quality Management System (QMS). Perform Root-Cause Analysis with process and test data to implement sustainable corrective actions. Understand risk management and the process-based approach to quality and drives continuous improvements. Understand and apply principles of lean & six sigma with the ability to manage projects within a World Class Manufacturing (WCM) program.What you need:
Strong knowledge in Chemistry and ideally Electrochemistry (Nickel deposit) / Electroplating. Proven knowledge and experience of process and / or performance improvement, within a manufacturing environment, ideally precision engineering field Practitioner in World Class Manufacturing techniques (eg: 6 sigma) Familiar with root cause analysis and other problem solving techniques Experience of managing others in project teams, including external contractors / suppliers Commercial awareness, with an understanding of basic cost structures and margins Effective influencing and communication skills, with the ability to understand and explain technical concepts to different levels.Este trabalho é para você?
