SEN Teacher Location: Kingsbury, North London Contract: Full-Time Start Date: January 2025A specialist school in Kingsbury, North London is seeking a dedicated and skilled SEN Teacher to lead a small, highly personalised primary class of pupils aged 6-10 with complex learning needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for a compassionate SEN teacher to make a meaningful impact in a well-resourced and collaborative setting.SEN Teacher Job Role:Teach and manage a small class of non-verbal pupils, aged 6 to 10, using a range of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) methods, including objects of reference, visual supports, gestures, MAKATON, and iPad-based communication tools.Plan and deliver an individualised, engaging curriculum with a strong focus on communication, sensory regulation, and personal development.Lead a multidisciplinary team including LSAs and therapists, ensuring the holistic needs of each pupil are met.Support pupils with a range of learning and developmental profiles, including ASD and Down Syndrome.Work collaboratively with families and specialists to implement and review behaviour strategies, communication goals, and personal care routines.Support students with personal care, including toileting and changing, and ensure protocols are followed for pupils with medical needs, including seizure management and emergency medication.Create a structured, nurturing environment that promotes emotional regulation, independence, and confidence.Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding, inclusion, and care.The Ideal SEN Teacher Will Have:Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS)Experience working with students with complex SEND, including autism, learning difficulties, and non-verbal communicationConfidence in, or willingness to develop, skills in using AAC methods and managing behaviour support strategiesA solid understanding of sensory processing needs, communication development, and inclusive practiceA collaborative, flexible, and compassionate approach to teachingWhy Join This School?Small class sizes and high staff-to-pupil ratioOn-site therapeutic and behavioural support teamsA supportive, values-led leadership team and school communityA role where your work has visible and lasting impact every dayHow to
