GardenerInverleith DepotSalary: £25, - £26,Hours: 36 per weekGardener position within our Parks & Greenspace Operational Service.The post will be based at one of our Operational Depots across the city and you will be required to carry out horticultural, landscaping and ground maintenance duties to improve Edinburgh's parks, gardens and greenspaces.A member of a gardening team undertaking horticultural, landscaping and grounds maintenance tasks at various locations across a geographical area.You will be required to work within a small team which will be managed by a Supervisor Gardener who will lead the team on a daily basis.You will be required to support your Supervisor Gardener, take instruction and support the development of team-working within your gardening squad.Post holder will have no supervision responsibility. They are expected to provide general guidance in work familiarisation.Knowledge and skills in horticulture and parks and grounds maintenance is required. You will be required to work to defined operational standards and all relevant work practices and health & safety guidance as appropriate to the work you will be completing.You will be required to assist in the preparation; review and updating of operational risk assessments.The post holder will be expected to operate a range of machinery and equipment.Assist in determining the work practices/arrangements and standards of work, in relation to managing the team on a daily basis.The post holder is required to undertake tasks in a range of settings without constant supervision, either alone or as part of a team, dependent on the task.Duties involve lengthy periods of heavy manual work. The post holder will be required to work in all weather and ground conditions and in moving traffic. Health and safety guidelines with risk assessments should be adhered to when on site.
