What does this Mechanical Engineering opportunity offer you?

We're recruiting for students to join us our Mechanical Engineering Programme, working at Hinkley Point C (HPC), the largest construction project in Europe or within our Satellite Delivery Centre (both located in Bridgwater). 

Taking on a real job at a junior level, you'll have the opportunity to learn through hands-on experience under the guidance of highly skilled and experienced colleagues.

Training, development, and support for you 

Over the course of this 12-month programme, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in hands-on learning, working on real-world challenges that directly impact the energy industry. Most of your learning will be on the job, supported by your mentor and the teams around you. You'll have a chance to apply your academic training to genuine industry problems while completing modules that contribute towards your degree.

Previous students on a Mechanical Engineering Industrial Placement have been involved in projects such as: 

Supporting improvements to safety through communications campaigns, training and other improvement projects. Looking at how radiation protection supports the building and operational life of new power stations; developing the skills necessary to support a wide range of teams in order to provide advice on radiation protection.  Assisting in running, maintaining, and developing the condition monitoring programme throughout a plant.

Your work location 

You will be based at Hinkley Point C (HPC) construction site or Satellite Delivery Centre.

Who you are

We are looking for candidates who are on track to achieve, or have already achieved, a 2:2 undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. You should possess strong technical and analytical skills, along with a genuine desire to learn and develop new capabilities. A questioning attitude, good teamwork, and effective communication skills are also essential qualities we seek.
