Project Controls Lead at SZC

Are you ready to take on a leadership role in one of the UK's most significant energy projects? As part of the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), we're looking for a passionate and experienced Project Controls Lead to join us in shaping the future of clean energy.

Sizewell C (SZC) is not just another power station. It's a 3.2-gigawatt powerhouse that will generate low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, providing reliable, clean energy for at least 60 years. Join us in making a lasting impact on the UK's energy landscape.

As the Project Controls Lead, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the effective delivery of the entire Civils Programme of SZC. You'll implement strategic programme controls systems, manage project controls within agreed constraints, and oversee Earned Value Management to ensure we meet all safety, quality, time, and cost parameters.

Your role will include actively participating in the CWA's PMO Leadership Team, fostering an environment for exceptional team performance, and leading project controls for one or more sections of the project. Your expertise in people management, programme controls, and project management systems will be essential in driving our success.

Key Responsibilities 

Manage the project controls function on one or more sections of the Civils Work Alliance of SZC.

Lead the implementation of project controls, including integrated programme and productivity management.

Implement and maintain a Project Controls Execution Plan and generate various progress and performance reports.

Embrace and manage integrated project controls systems.

Introduce and lead project controls, including integrated programme and productivity management.

Implement the Civils Work Programme defined work breakdown structure (WBS), cost breakdown structure (CBS), and organisation breakdown structure (OBS).

Participate in the development and lead the implementation of the earned value management (EVM) and reporting system for all Section cost and time aspects.

Provide constructive recommendations to mitigate deficiencies and influence Section performance and positive outcomes.

Lead and generate all types of progress and performance reports including for report definitions, templates, metrics, trends, forecast and recommendations.

Assist with establishing and maintaining systems for reporting and forecasting.

Create an environment for exceptional team performance to ensure the teams, roles, skills, and behaviour are aligned with the business objectives and project requirements.

Oversee people management, recruitment, organisation, development, coaching, and mentoring.

We're looking for someone with extensive experience of leading project controls on complex infrastructure projects, ideally with international tier 1 contractors. If you're MRICS preferred, that's a plus
