Behaviour Support Assistant

Contract Type: Day-to-Day/Long-term, Full-time.

GSL Education are currently looking for a passionate and dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join a vibrant school in Sheffield (S9). This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in students' lives by providing tailored support for those who need help managing their behaviour and emotional needs. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students achieve their full potential in a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.

Responsibilities of the Behaviour Support Assistant:

Provide one-to-one and group support to students with behavioural and emotional challenges.
Help students develop coping strategies to manage their emotions and behaviour in the classroom.
Support classroom teachers in maintaining a positive and safe learning environment.
Monitor and track students' progress and behaviour, reporting back to the teaching staff.
Encourage positive behaviour and academic progress by offering praise and reinforcement.
Work closely with the SENCO and other support staff to implement personalised learning plans.
Promote inclusivity and ensure every student is treated with respect and dignity.
Previous experience working with children, particularly those with behavioural needs (desirable but not essential).
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students in challenging situations.
Good organisational skills and a proactive attitude to problem-solving.
A passion for making a positive impact in students' lives.
A current DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures (mandatory).

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
