Job Description: Pipefitter (Wigan)
Overview
We are seeking a skilled Pipefitter to join our dynamic team in Wigan for an exciting, temporary project. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems within a factory environment. This role involves working at height and handling various complex pipe systems, including the installation of Mapress LCS pipe and press fittings, bracketry systems, and fan coil heaters. Additionally, the job includes a new boiler house installation, fuel delivery system, and the setup of biomass components. The role will start immediately and run until December 20th, with a return date from January 6th until potentially mid-March 2025.
Responsibilities
* Install and maintain Mapress LCS pipe and press fittings at high levels throughout the factory.
* Install and set up bracketry systems and fan coil heaters at high levels.
* Assist in the installation of a new boiler house, including the 1MW wood chip biomass system, piping, buffer vessels, expansion vessels, pumps, and other related components.
* Install and maintain the fuel delivery system as part of the biomass installation project.
* Work at heights using scissor lifts and other appropriate equipment (IPAF certification required for scissor lifts).
* Ensure all installations comply with technical specifications, safety standards, and company regulations.
* Conduct regular inspections of installed piping systems, identifying and addressing any issues.
* Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each task.
* Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including CSCS health and safety standards.
* Work collaboratively with other tradespeople and project teams to ensure timely project completion.
* Own transport is required to commute to and from the job site.
Skills
* Proficient in the installation and repair of Mapress LCS pipe and press systems, including working with high-level installations.
* Experience with bracketry systems, fan coil heaters, and other HVAC components.
* Experience in installing and working with complex systems, such as boiler houses, buffer vessels, and fuel delivery systems.
* Strong welding and soldering skills, particularly in stick welding techniques for pipe fittings.
* Ability to work at heights, with IPAF certification for scissor lifts being essential.
* Working at height training, asbestos awareness training, and manual handling training are desirable (to meet company requirements).
* Strong attention to detail, ensuring high-quality workmanship.
* Must have access to reliable transport for commuting to and from the job site.
Requirements
* IPAF certification (essential for scissor lifts).
* Minimum Blue CSCS card (required).
* Safety at heights certification.
* Asbestos awareness training (desirable).
* Manual handling training (desirable).
* Reliable attendance and own transport.
Additional Information
* Rate: £25 per hour.
* Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00.
* Duration: Immediate start until December 20th, with work resuming on January 6th until potentially mid-March 2025.
