About the role:

This is a full-time, long-term position for an SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialism in managing challenging behaviours, starting in January 2025. As part of the school’s SEN team, you will work closely with students in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 who require additional behavioural support. Your focus will be to foster a safe, engaging, and respectful learning environment, helping each child develop the skills they need to succeed both academically and socially. This is a highly rewarding role that makes a direct impact on students’ lives, particularly those who face additional barriers to learning.

Application Requirements:

• Experience working with children with challenging behaviours in a school or similar setting.
• A calm, patient, and understanding approach to managing challenging situations.
• Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred but not essential).
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• A proactive and resilient attitude, with a passion for helping children thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 support and small group interventions for students with challenging behaviours, tailoring your approach to meet each child’s unique needs.
• Work closely with classroom teachers, SENCO, and other support staff to create and implement individual behaviour plans (IBPs).
• Foster a positive, inclusive environment, encouraging and guiding students to adopt positive behaviour patterns.
• Assist in monitoring and recording students’ progress, providing feedback to the SENCO and parents.
• Implement de-escalation techniques and use positive reinforcement to support students’ emotional and behavioural development.
