SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary School in Central Southampton (SEMH & ASD)
Start Date: January 2025
Contract: Long-Term (Until July 2025, with potential for permanent role)
Salary: £78 – £90 per day (Dependent on Experience)
Hours: 08:30 – 15:30, Monday to Friday

Job Overview:
A dedicated secondary school in Central Southampton is looking for a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from January 2025. This long-term role runs until July 2025, with the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate. You will support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), playing a pivotal role in helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with teachers to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the specific needs of students.
Provide one-on-one and small group support for students with SEMH and ASD.
Help foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
Assist in creating personalised learning materials and resources.
Implement behaviour management strategies to support a calm and productive learning atmosphere.
Track and monitor student progress, contributing to their academic, social, and emotional development.

Requirements:
Previous experience working with students with SEMH, ASD, or in a similar SEN role is highly desirable.
A genuine passion for supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of students.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Patience, resilience, and a positive approach to challenges.
Qualifications:
Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
Relevant qualifications in Education or SEN are advantageous but not essential.
Additional Information:
