Interim Biosafety Specialist

Location: London

Circa 6 Month Duration

Rate: circa £450 per day

Are you an experienced Biosafety professional with a strong academic and research background, combined with management expertise, seeking an opportunity to contribute to a world-class, cutting-edge research institute?

You will play a key role in developing a positive and proactive health and safety culture across the organisation relating specifically to Biosafety. The successful candidate will join a well-established team of technical professionals operating across various specialisms.

Responsibilities for the Interim Biosafety Specialist will include:

Implementing health and safety policies and procedures and ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation
Oversee the safe handling of biological materials and advise on any required safety improvements
Cover the compliance in relation to biological risks whilst managing the operation of containment facility levels one, two, three and four
Providing health and safety support across the Institution, particularly within the research departmentsThe successful Interim Biosafety Specialist will have:

Proven experience in a similar Biological Safety role, ideally from within scientific research, universities, containment facilities, or similar environment
Bioscience or biology background and degree or other relevant subject or equivalent technical qualification
Expertise in working with containment levels CL1, CL2, and CL3, with experience in CL4 being highly desirable, alongside proficiency in handling genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in compliance with biosafety standards.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience influencing and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders
Strong attention to detail with a proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneouslyThis role would suit an experienced Biosafety professional looking to progress their career further in a successful leading organisation.
