Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant – Tameside

Position: Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant
Location: Secondary School in Tameside
Start Date: January 2025

A supportive and inclusive secondary school in Tameside is looking for a calm and resilient Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join their team in January 2025. This role will focus on assisting students with behavioural challenges, helping them develop self-regulation skills, and fostering a positive, respectful school environment.

Responsibilities:

One-on-One Behavioural Support: Provide tailored one-on-one guidance to students exhibiting behavioural difficulties, helping them identify triggers and develop strategies for positive self-management.
Classroom Assistance and Management: Support teachers in managing classroom behaviour, ensuring a focused learning environment and assisting students who may need redirection or additional encouragement to engage positively with their peers and schoolwork.
Develop and Implement Behaviour Plans: Work closely with the pastoral and teaching teams to create personalised behaviour support plans, regularly monitoring progress and adjusting approaches as needed.
Parent and Family Liaison: Maintain open communication with parents, providing regular updates on their child’s progress and engaging them in strategies that reinforce positive behaviour both at school and at home.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have experience working with students facing behavioural challenges, a calm and composed approach, and the ability to build trust and rapport with young people. Strong interpersonal and organisational skills are key, as well as a dedication to creating a supportive and respectful learning atmosphere. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
