ABOUT THE SCHOOL:

A two form entry school in Tonbridge are looking for a Teaching Assistant from January 2025 that provides high quality education for Year R to Year 6.

Osted rated the school 'Good' school, providing 'Outstanding' provision for our Early Years children. Our children's aspirational journey through the school was noted with 'high expectations reflected in all phases of the school'.

* Spacious classrooms along two easy to navigate corridors - one for EYFS and Key Stage 1, and one for Key Stage 2;

* Outdoor areas including a designated play and sports areas for EYFS, KS1 and KS2: sports field, trim trails, climbing equipment, outdoor classroom, prayer gardens and a new Forest School area;

* A bright, spacious and well stocked library;

* Quiet learning spaces outside the classrooms for personalised teaching;

* A dedicated room for music lessons;

* A room for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths (STEAM);

* A fully equipped sensory room;

* Play therapist with a dedicated play therapy space;

* Daily Collective Worship where the school comes together to worship and reflect;

* On site kitchen facilities providing a choice of healthy, nutritious lunches every day;

* A variety of after school Enrichment clubs ranging from pottery and gardening to dodgeball and pop lacrosse as well as daily breakfast club.

All pupils, regardless of background, are offered a full and enriching curriculum from the start which enables them to master the knowledge and skills they need to achieve their full educational and personal potential.

Essential for a successful Teaching Assistant:

Duties and Responsibilities

Support for pupils:

1. To aid pupils to learn as effectively as possible both in group situations and on their own.

2. To establish supportive relationships, supervise and provide particular support for pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.

3. Taking into account the learning support involved, to aid the pupils to learn as effectively as possible both in group situations and on his/her own.

4. To establish a constructive relationship with the pupils and interact with them according to individual needs

5. To promote the inclusion and acceptance of all children

6. To set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence

7. To provide the necessary pastoral care to enable children to feel secure and happy

8. To provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under the guidance of the teacher

Support for teachers

1. Assist with the class teacher (and other professionals as appropriate), in the development and planning of a suitable programme of support for pupils

2. Monitor pupil's responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement as directed

3. Provide detailed and regular feedback about the children to the teacher

4. Contribute to the maintenance of children's progress records 5. Participate in the evaluation of the support programme

6. Promote good behaviour, dealing promptly with conflicts and incidents in line with established policy, and encourage children to take responsibility for their own behaviour

7. Establish constructive relationships with parents/carers 8. Administer routine tests and undertake routine marking of children's work 9. Support class teachers in photocopying and other tasks in order to support teaching Support for the
