Are you passionate about working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? At Harton Education, we’re thrilled to partner with inclusive and supportive schools in Hayes, and we’re seeking SEN Teaching Assistants to join their teams from January 2025.
No prior experience? No problem While experience is desirable, it is not essential as the school is committed to developing candidates with comprehensive training opportunities. This is an amazing chance to kick-start or grow your career in SEN education, helping students build confidence, overcome challenges, and achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored one-on-one and group support to students with SEN, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, and speech and language difficulties.
* Assist in developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies, ensuring each student’s needs are met.
* Collaborate with teachers to create engaging, inclusive lessons where every student can thrive.
* Adapt teaching materials to ensure SEN students can fully participate and succeed in their learning.
* Monitor and record student progress, sharing valuable insights with teachers, SENCOs, and parents.
* Foster a nurturing environment, building trust and providing emotional support to students.
* Implement effective behaviour management techniques to ensure a calm and productive classroom environment.
* Work alongside external professionals, such as speech and occupational therapists, to deliver tailored interventions.
* Support social and emotional development, helping students build confidence, self-esteem, and positive relationships.
What We’re Looking For
* A genuine love for working with children with SEN and a desire to help them thrive.
* Strong interpersonal skills to connect with students, staff, and parents.
* A flexible and creative approach to meet the varied needs of students.
* Patience and empathy: The ability to remain calm and compassionate in challenging situations.
* Previous work with children or young people is desirable but not essential – training opportunities are available for the right candidates.
* An enhanced DBS (on the Update Service) or willingness to apply for one is essential.
What We Offer
* Competitive pay rates, reflecting your experience and expertise.
* Opportunities for professional development and training to enhance your SEN skillset.
* A variety of placements, giving you the chance to work in different schools across Hayes.
* A supportive and collaborative team that values your contributions.
* The chance to make a lasting difference in the lives of children with SEN.
Application Requirements:
* Enhanced DBS Disclosure – All candidates must hold or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS.
* References & Clearances – Professional references and Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) are required.
* Employment History – Your CV must detail the last 10 years, including explanations for any gaps.
