GSL Education are excited to be looking for a dedicated Cover Supervisor to work at a school in Sheffield (S9). As a Cover Supervisor, you will oversee classes in the absence of their regular teacher, ensuring students stay on task and follow the lesson plans provided. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and has the ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively. The role offers valuable experience for anyone considering a career in education or those looking to make a difference in a school setting.
Responsibilities of the Cover Supervisor:
Supervise students in the absence of their regular teacher, ensuring they remain on task and engaged with the lesson.
Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and activities to students.
Manage classroom behaviour effectively, maintaining a positive and respectful learning environment.
Provide support to students as needed, answering questions and helping with learning tasks.
Ensure students follow the school's policies and procedures, including health and safety rules.
Report any issues or concerns to the relevant staff members.
Monitor and record student progress during lessons.
Requirements for the Cover Supervisor:
Experience working with young people (desirable but not essential).
Strong communication and classroom management skills.
Ability to adapt quickly to different teaching environments and year groups.
A positive, proactive attitude with a passion for working with students.
Good organisational skills and the ability to follow lesson plans effectively.
An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
A current DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
