We’ll inspire and empower you to deliver your best work so you can evolve, grow and succeed – today and into tomorrow. We offer an exciting range of opportunities to develop your career within a supportive and diverse team who always strive to do the right thing for our people, clients and communities.
About the Opportunity
Make a difference We help clients on internationally-important complex, safety-critical engineering, not least in nuclear-clean-up. Join us and help tackle these tasks in a carbon-efficient way. The Environment unit has a major focus on nuclear decommissioning – but counter-intuitively, this involves a lot of new infrastructure and building, which is an area where your knowledge and skills will be key. You’ll help develop our business to help us and clients in playing our role in meeting the challenges of Climate Change.. We are a major player in the UK Nuclear Decommissioning market and expanding our international business and work in other sectors (such as Energy Transition). In the role you will be responsible for the technical delivery of projects and workstream tasks, providing advice, technical expertise and innovative approaches relating to climate change and sustainability. You will have opportunities for business case development, scoping commercial propositions through sales and client relationship management, and developing the capability.
This position is a critical role for us and our clients, to put in place tools, plans and strategies to drive down carbon, whilst also having the opportunity to innovate on digital capabilities to support efficiencies. We require a candidate with proven experience in carbon management, looking to progress their career to expert leadership, and help expand our capability and portfolio in this area. The successful candidate will join a diverse team with the exciting opportunity to work with a varied portfolio of high-profile projects throughout the UK and globally.
Main Responsibilities
You will work collaboratively across the business providing technical leadership on carbon management, including around implementation of carbon management (notably PAS 2080), Scope 3 supply chain, net zero strategies, and ESG services.
Given the breadth of opportunities, typical tasks would include:
* Performing life cycle assessments (LCA) and modelling, including use of eTool, OneClick LCA and ability to learn other software.
* At strategic level, working with clients to develop carbon management frameworks, including alignment with standards, and advising on strategies, plans, and net zero and ESG strategies.
* Maintaining knowledge of carbon policy developments, carbon accounting, methodology changes, and wider sustainability issues. - Managing the delivery of ESG and compliance reporting.
* Providing assurance services related to carbon accounting and sustainability targets.
* Providing leadership on business development activities, bid preparation and winning work in the above areas.
* Being a technical reviewer to ensure high-quality on project deliverables.
* Actively engaging in our global communities of practice (COP) of relevance to carbon and sustainability.
Requirements:
* Master’s Degree (or higher) in Environmental or Sustainability related discipline, or equivalent.
* Demonstrated proficiency in standards and best practice in carbon management (PAS2080, PAS2060, ISO14064, among others). - Relevant experience in net zero projects and/or LCA gained within consultancy, government, research or industry.
* High quality reports/proposals writing, and presentation of recommendations and conclusions to clients and stakeholders.
* Strong stakeholder management, social and networking skills.
* Capacity to work within teams to solve problems and achieve a high level of assurance on project deliverables.
* Desirable: knowledge of climate resilience relevant to the UK; anticipated impact and mitigation approaches relevant to the nuclear industry (or major infrastructure projects) and its workforce
Our Culture:
Our values stand on a foundation of safety, integrity, inclusion and diversity. We put people at the heart of our business, and we genuinely believe that we all succeed by supporting one another through our culture of caring.
