Job summary We have two vacancies for Band 5 Dietitians to join our busyCommunity Nutrition and Dietetics Service in Barnsley and are keen to hear fromnewly qualified Dietitians (or those who are nearing the end of theirtraining), in addition to existing Band 5 Dietitians who may wish to flourishin a community setting.
We have twocommunity posts available: 1 x , and 1 x The roles are varied and interesting, covering a range of adultcommunity dietetics including community clinics, care homes and people who arehousebound.
The caseload includesnutrition support, post stroke care and support, diabetes, general dieteticsand some enteral feeding (with support and supervision).
Additionally, there may also be opportunityto support delivery of some patient groups as part of the role.
Our service covers the whole of Barnsley.You will need to possess excellent team working,communication, organisation and time management skills, as well as be able todemonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development.This is acommunity-based role; applicants must have a driving license and access to avehicle for work purposes.
Acontribution to the delivery of dietetic student training is also expectedwithin this role.Atthe time of advertising, this role does meet the minimum requirements set by UKVisas and Immigration to sponsor candidates to work in the UK.

Main duties of the job As a Band 5 CommunityDietitian you will:Manage a caseload of adult patients requiringdietetic intervention in the community this may include a range of settingssuch as care homes, clinics and patients own homes.Be able to provide dietetic assessment andintervention for a range of conditions including nutrition support, diabetes,stroke and some gastro conditions such as IBS.Work as a part of our team of dietitians anddietetic assistants.Have a patient centred approach in line withour Trust valuesWork flexibly to meet the needs of the servicePossess excellentcommunication/interpersonal skills to negotiate and build rapport withpatients, carers and families.Be up to date with the currentdietetic evidence base.Work in partnership with otherhealth professionals to provide holistic patient careWork with key members ofmultidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide individualised advice, support &care plans to patientsDemonstrate excellent timemanagement, prioritisation & organisational skillsParticipate in education &staff development, clinical supervision and the appraisal processContribute to the delivery ofdietetic student training About us Weare a specialist NHS Foundation Trust that provides community, mental healthand learning disability services for the people of Barnsley, Calderdale,Kirklees and Wakefield.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential BSc/MSc or Post-graduate Diploma in Dietetics.
Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Desirable Evidence of other post-registration education and training.
Experience Essential Experience of working in a therapy setting across the health community (inpatients and outpatients).
Desirable Experience of training student dieticians.
Special Knowledge/ Skills Essential Can communicate specialist dietetic information in an understandable form to patients and carers on a one to one or group basis, and in written form.
Can demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Able to work effectively as part of dietetic and multidisciplinary team.
Skilled in counselling and behaviour change techniques Able to assess and treat patients requiring dietetic intervention and to monitor and adapt dietetic treatment as appropriate.
Computer literate in Microsoft PowerPoint internet and Word.
Desirable Presentation/teaching skills.
Audit skills.
Personal Attributes Essential Demonstrate commitment to professional and personal development.
Able to reflect on clinical practice to enhance competency.
Able to work independently and using own initiative Use time management skills to effectively organise, prioritise and manage a demanding caseload that may be subject to unforeseen changes.

Confident, enthusiastic, committed and displays proactive approach.
Adaptable and flexible around working times and practices including evening and weekend work where necessary.
Ability to travel around the Trust as appropriate to role.
Desirable Member of British Dietetic Association.
Physical Attributes Essential Ability to undertake the duties and demands of the post.
A satisfactory sickness record over the previous 2 years (subject to the need to act with fairness and equality of opportunity, particularly where the sickness is related to a disability and/or pregnancy).
Training Essential Demonstrate a willingness to undertake training as relevant to the role.
Desirable Appropriate membership to specialist dietetic interest group/s.
Behaviour change training level 1.
