Paint Prep Technician Overview: To work in a busy business seeing new and used Race Transporters and Exhibition vehicles through the complete internal & external Strip, Prep, Paint & re-fit process.
We are looking for an experienced and highly efficient individuals, that can work to a high standard first time.
You will be a team player, capable of managing your own workload, The successful candidate will be required to carry out all types of vehicle body refinishing work, using appropriate methods on all makes of vehicles.
Candidates must: Experience in vehicle strip, prep, general filler work & masking.
Be able to manage your own workload ATA and/or NVQ qualification will be an advantage but not essential if you have the skills and experience.
Key Tasks: Vehicle strip, prep & re-fit.
Prepare vehicles to be sprayed, including filler work, sealer and masking as required.
To leave all the repair(s) up to the Company standard ready for final quality control up to and including stripping/refitting, panel repair, masking, priming, Plan and manage time effectively to ensure all tasks are achieved to deadline, achieving efficiency You will be completing all final preparation work on the vehicles.
Repairing damaged panels on vehicles using the correct methods and materials.
You will have a minimum of 2 years experience in: General filler work to a good standard.
Preparing vehicles for painting, as per the detailed instruction, and using appropriate tools to rub down the complete vehicle or panels as required Preparing vehicles with masking paper and fine line Rubbing down primer to a smooth finish.
Using primer to cover new Filler and sealer work as required Using the appropriate filling material & sealer.
Ideally but not essential to have polishing experience as required after painting, using fine paper to remove blemishes and dirt in the paint.
De-masking any masking paper.
Keeping the prep bay to a clean standard Required skills and experience: Significant exposure working in a similar position i.e.
Prepper, Bodyshop / Bodyworks Operative, MET Technician, Strip & Refit etc Full UK Driving Licence.
Significant exposure using orbital sanders.
Ability to work fast and efficiently.
