Comech Engineering Ltd is a well-established specialist Industrial Door and Loading Bay company.
Due to increasing demand, we are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Service Engineer to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, repair, and installation of Loading bay and Door Systemsto the highest health and safety standards.
An attractive financial package will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
Main Responsibilities Servicing, Maintenance, and Repair of Industrial Doors & Loading Bay Systems: Inspect and service loading bay systems, dock levellers, seals, bumpers, and related equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with health and safety regulations.
Perform calibration, testing, and routine checks on mechanical and electrical systems, including cleaning fixings, channels, stops, checking wiring integrity, operation of isolators, locking systems, and controls, and adjusting components as needed to ensure systems are fully operational.
Troubleshoot and carry out repairs on defective equipment, replacing worn or damaged parts, including mechanical components, electrical systems, and structural elements, following industry best practices.
Apply lubrication and check the general operation of all systems to maintain peak performance and ensure all equipment is functioning properly prior to leaving site.
Documentation and Reporting: Produce service reports both for Installation and service, documenting all observations, repairs, and recommendations for improvements, ensuring that all records are completed accurately and on time.
Identify and highlight additional maintenance needs or replacements, providing clients with recommendations for long-term system health and safety improvements.
Offer customer on-site solutions for repair and upgrade works.
Prepare or update site-specific risk assessments and method statements for service work, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed in line with company and industry policies.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all service and repair work is carried out following risk assessments and health and safety procedures to prevent accidents and maintain safe working environments.
Ensure equipment is operated and stored safely, in compliance with company health and safety protocols, and report any potential risks or hazards.
Conduct health and safety audits on-site to ensure compliance with regulations, such as working at height, electrical safety, and safe operation of industrial doors and loading bay systems.
Installation and Fitting: Installation of industrial doors, loading bays, auto gates, barriers and related equipment, including the installation of frames, structural components, seals, bumpers, and shelters.
Help with connecting to power, testing, and commissioning of new installations, ensuring all systems are fully functional before handover to clients.
Provide support during installation, including preparation of the site, fitting of components, and the assembly of mechanical and electrical parts as required.
Asset and Resource Management: Ensure that all materials, tools, and equipment are securely stored and maintained, and that any vehicle used is kept in safe working order.
Operate company vehicles safely and report any issues immediately, ensuring regular maintenance in line with manufacturers specifications.
Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training programs to develop specialist skills and maintain industry certification.
Complete training in health and safety regulations, including risk assessments, method statements, and company-specific documentation procedures.
Engage in IT training for basic data entry, including site-specific audits, asset registers, and service reports.
Experience, Skills, and Aptitudes Required The successful candidate will be- self-motivated and enthusiastic, able to work alone and also as part as a team organised yet flexible with an ability to adapt to changes in work and workload a clear communicator, both verbally and in writing using manual job forms and electronic reporting systems capable of manual work, lifting and physical duties an experienced practitioner with a background in, or willing to learn, maintenance and installation of industrial doors; high speed sectional doors; loading bay equipment; automatic gates and barriers An engineering qualification is preferrable.
Training on products will be provided.
A full UK driving license is essential.
Working Conditions Hours: Monday to Friday (standard working hours with occasional weekend or evening work as required for emergency services).
Travel: Travel required to client sites.
On-Call: Participation in an on-call rota for emergency service calls may be required.
