As a Sports Assistant, you will play a vital role within our team, carrying out the day-to-day front of house operation of all Sports facilities and associated areas, so that we can provide indoor and outdoor activities and events for students, university staff, the local community and high-performance athletes.
This is a great position to learn and develop basic skills within a sporting environment where you will get to work alongside high-performance athletes, many of whom compete in the Summer and Winter Olympics.
About the role
You will need good interpersonal skills, the ability to work as part of a team and be able to work varied hours. Your main responsibilities will consist of:
- lifeguarding
- setting up indoor and outdoor activities
- setting up events
- assisting with general enquiries from customers
- responding to ad hoc requests for support
You will also be involved in patrolling facilities, security, cleanliness, health and safety and emergency procedures.
Part of this role involves lifeguarding duties and therefore you will need to have a lifeguarding (NPLQ) qualification. You can gain the qualification by completing a short course with the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK).

Further information
Due to the working hours and shift patterns, this role is only suitable for those aged 18 years and over.
This is a part-time role working 15 hours per week, on Tuesday 17:15-22:15, Thursday 17:15-22:15, and Saturday 14:15-19:15.
This role requires a basic DBS check which we would organise for you and we will support you with all the training you need to thrive in this inspiring environment.
