An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Infection Prevention and Control Nurse (holding a registered nursing status or an Allied Health Professional status) to work within the Quality Assurance and Patient Safety Directorate within Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB on a 12 month secondment.
The Senior IPC Nurse will be part of the IPC team taking a role in the success of the ICB infection control annual plan.
This will involve developing and implementing a range of work streams and deliverables with a particular focus on building relationships across the Integrated Care System.
Key responsibilities will include: Ensure a robust quality oversight, monitoring process and transformation of contracted services, ensuring these are compliant with statutory/regulatory requirements relating to IPC and Hygiene Code Ensure there is an effective process for responding to national, regional and local IPC matters Develop effective working relationships (external and internal health and social care colleagues and agencies) to ensure IPC quality and safety are monitored Interpret and implement complex national guidance supporting the development of policies and guidelines.

Demonstrate an ability to manage, over lengthy prolonged periods of times, emotionally demanding work that is frequently distressing context and have the ability to support others commissioned to carry out such work.
Ability to work to tight deadlines, manage projects, but also work reactively, maintaining professionalism under pressure.
Analyse local and national data, continually monitoring research and evidence to inform quality improvement initiatives.
Support the monitoring and compliance of quality standards by providers, to ensure that safe and effective commissioned services are in place.
Support the development of audit programmes that will monitor, evaluate and improve patient safety.
Support the implementation of recommendations arising from incidents and learning reviews.
Contribute to the delivery of IPC training across the ICB.
The main duties and responsibilities described above are not exhaustive and the post holder expected to take on other responsibilities or specific tasks as required.
Further, over time it is likely the remit and requirements of the role will evolve, and the post holder will be required to adjust their working approach and style to accommodate this with the full support of line managers.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential Registered Nursing or AHP Qualification Desirable Professional experience and knowledge of patient safety and quality.
Experience Essential Experience of working in a similar clinical and/or quality setting.
