About the Role We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to lead the commissioning and integration of solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS) , including grid connections up to 132kV .
This role is critical to ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of renewable energy projects in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities Commissioning & Testing : Conduct functional testing, performance verification, and operational commissioning of solar PV and BESS systems.
Ensure integration of systems with substations and grid connections up to 132kV.
Project Execution : Develop and execute commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules for projects.
Coordinate with design teams, contractors, and clients to ensure seamless handovers from construction to operations.
Technical Oversight : Monitor and validate system performance, including energy output and efficiency metrics.
Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues during commissioning.
Health, Safety & Compliance : Ensure compliance with HSE regulations, industry codes, and best practices during commissioning activities.
Maintain thorough documentation of commissioning processes, test results, and regulatory compliance.
Stakeholder Communication : Liaise with the National Grid, Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), and other regulatory bodies for approvals and compliance.
Provide technical training and guidance to operational teams post-commissioning.
Qualifications & Experience Education : Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline.
Experience : Proven track record in commissioning solar PV and battery storage systems.
Experience with HV/LV electrical systems and grid connections up to 132kV .
Familiarity with SCADA systems and remote monitoring technologies.
Understanding of UK grid connection standards (G99, G59).
Skills : Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
Excellent project management and organizational skills.
Effective communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
Desirable Certification in HV systems or grid compliance testing.
Experience with advanced energy storage technologies.
Familiarity with power system modeling tools (e.g., PSSE, ETAP).
