Job summary As Sister / Charge Nurse you will help lead and manage thedepartment so that high quality, evidence based nursing care is delivered topatients and their carers.You will be anintegral member of our team whom who maintain our on-going achievement of theemergency access standards.
You must be committed to providing high quality nursingcare; you will provide strong leadership and mentorship to junior staff andhelp support the senior team.You will be a highly visible leader and be experienced as aprofessional role model.

Job description Job responsibilities You will assist with the day to day running ofthe Emergency Department, ensuringthe highest possible quality of care is delivered to patients, relatives and carers who attend.You will provideAssessment, care and treatment to all patientswho present to the Alexandra Emergency Department.You will supportthe band 7 in their responsibility for ensuringand maintaining of a clinical environment in which care and compassion is constantly demonstrated seven days, twentyfour hour service.You will maintaindevelop your own professional development including attending all statutory, mandatoryand trust specific training.
You will use effective communication skills of negotiation, persuasion and empathy to enable timely and effectivecommunication with your own staff and the wider MDT team and other agencies.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential Registered Nurse on sub part 1 or 2 of the professional register 24 months experience of Emergency Department experience as a band 5.
Extended clinical skills relevant to the Emergency Department nursing.
NMC recognised Mentorship qualification or willingness to work towards within 18 months of commencement of post.
Understanding of policies and legislation relevant to the ED.
Desirable Teaching and Assessing Qualification.
Advance life support trained.
Trauma Course.
Experience of managing a team.
Skills and Abilities Essential Excellent time management, prioritisation and organisational skills Able to record and deal with facts, figures and information accurately Able to follow Trust and departmental policies and procedures Effective communicator both written and verbal Able to problem solve and be flexible to change in demands of service Ability to mentor and provide effective support to unregistered and students.
Ability to Use technology as required to the role Ability to identify and manage risk Determination and tenacity in challenging situations Ability to identify personal development needs Ability to deal with stressful and traumatic situations.
Be able to concentrate and multitask for prolong periods.
Triage skills, Good clinical knowledge and skills Desirable Significant proven knowledge and experience in speciality
