This role is part of a larger drive to ensure access to occupational therapy for our service users in the community and ensure we have clinical specialists working with the people with the most complex needs.
This job will see you providing evidenced-based, trauma informed occupational therapy assessments and interventions to individuals where they live.
Working in partnership with Response (a mental health housing provider) to support and develop the quality and consistency of the recovery interventions delivered by the whole team.
Your colleagues and direct network will include Response housing support staff and the clinical MDT based at the Recovery Campus.
You will have a peer network of Band 7/clinical lead occupational therapists and be clinical supervised by an Occupational Therapist, as well as having access to the active AHP network across the trust and profession specific training coordinated by our Practice Development Lead for Occupational Therapy.
Main duties of the job As the Band 7 OT in this post you will work in a recovery-focused, trauma informed way providing 1:1 occupational therapy assessments and interventions with a reablement, recovery and rehabilitation focus to those housed at the Response Recovery Campus.This will include the providing assessments and interventions that focus on occupational performance and enable and encourage individuals to live as independently as possible.You will create occupational case formulations to highlight an individuals occupational strengths and limitations and inform the intervention plan moving forward.
You will work collaboratively with individuals and their key workers to develop clear and meaningful support plans and SMART goals.

You will also act as intermediaries with health and social care to ensure residents get timely access to any necessary equipment and assistive technology to enable them to lead full and active lives with minimal disruption.You will be part of growing and sustaining a high quality, rehabilitation environment, through actively promoting and participating in the education and upskilling of staff within the Response Housing network.
This will involve providing relevant recovery focused training to staff within the housing pathway (including, but not limited to, training on Recovery principles, CHIME framework (Connectedness, Hope and Optimism, Identity, meaning, Empowerment) and Co-production principles).

Person Specification Experience Essential Experience using standardised Occupational Therapy tools and models Occupational Therapy assessments Experience of taking students Experience supervising team members Evidence of working with service users with a range of backgrounds and health needs Desirable Experience assessing and providing equipment, including assistive technology Experience working in non traditional settings Experience working with people with co-occuring needs (such as ASD, substance use) Qualification and training Essential BSc (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy Placement educator training and experience Evidence of relevant post qualifying training Desirable Leadership training Sensory training Masters level training in related field Knowledge and skills Essential Post qualifying experience in a range of related settings Understanding of clinical model of OT and use of related assessments Knowledge of outcome measures and experience using these to evaluate practice Leadership and influencing skills and experience Knowledge of trauma informed care, recovery principles and co-production Desirable Experience of working with supported living placements and/or third sector providers.
Knowledge of assistive technology and equipment provision.
Understanding of the Care Act, MHA and mental capacity acts and their application
