Job summary As part of EastCleveland Group Primary CareNetwork's multi-disciplinary team, we are looking to appoint a traineeGP Assistant.
The successful candidate willbe based within oneof our PCN member practices across Brotton, Guisborough, Loftus andSkelton-in-Cleveland but may be required to work acrossany of our member practices and will work collaboratively to support the smooth running of clinics byperforming a hybrid role supporting admin and clinical tasks on behalf of theGP.Trainee GPAs will have experience of working in generalpractice and complete Health Education England's structured, accredited 6 monthtraining programme which is aligned to the competency framework and, uponcompletion, provides a formal qualification.Further information is attached.
Main duties of the job Duties and responsibilities will be dependent upon an individual undertaking a hybrid role which includes administrative and clinical tasks.This role will be subject to development and review in line with NHS contractual requirements.Please see Job Description and Person Spec for further information.

Job description Job responsibilities Dutiesand responsibilities will include: Arrangingpatient appointments, referrals, tests and follow up consultations Completingsimple clinical observations/investigations as directed, eg dipstick urine,taking blood pressure, ECG and phlebotomy SupportingGPs with immunisations and wound care Completingbasic (non-opinion) forms Completingcore elements of specific forms for GP approval and signature, eg insurance,mortgage and benefits agency forms etc Explainingtreatment procedures to patients AssistingGPs to liaise with outside agencies, eg contacting an on call doctor for advice,arranging patient admission Sorting,prioritising and signposting clinical communications and letters (includingmedication changes where appropriate) for GP and other members of staff Extractinginformation from clinical letters for coding purposes and to add to patientnotes Supportingwith QOF reviews such as LTC review Supportingsurgery 'front of house' in managing patient demand, prioritisation of patientwith urgent needs Supportingsurgery and/or PCN database searches, audits and quality improvement projects Where appropriate and agreed with supervisor, conducting visitsto patient's residence to perform the above tasks Participatein an annual individual performance review Trackand record evidence of experience against the national competency framework Informthe lead GP of any concerns regarding the role and request professionaldevelopment as required Awarenessof own professional boundaries.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) NVQ Level 2 Business Administration (or relevant experience) Desirable Knowledge and experience of using clinical systems including SystmOne and ICE Knowledge and experience of clinical coding Understand legislation, policies and procedures regarding infection prevention and control Knowledge and understanding of significant incident reporting Knowledge and understanding of Primary Care Network arrangements and their contribution to the NHS 10-Year Plan Understand the application of person-centred approaches in health and social care and specifically in general practice Experience Essential Previous experience of working in NHS Primary Care and with healthcare professionals Desirable Relevant clinical experience working as a GPA or in a similar role Ability to support the implementation of, monitoring and review of care plans Understand the roles, responsibilities and importance of risk assessment in infection prevention and control Basic consultation skills Experience of supporting people with their mental health and working with vulnerable people Preparation and support of patients to undergo healthcare activities Skills Essential Good communication and interpersonal skills Excellent written, verbal, listening and record keeping skills Awareness of the principles of handling information in health and social care Problem solving Ability to use own judgement to prioritise tasks Ability to recognise and work within own scope Full driving licence Desirable Awareness of the principles of quality improvement and continuous learning IT skills MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc Basic clinical observations eg temperature, BP measurement, oxygen saturation Phlebotomy skills and wound dressing
