Job summary Exciting opportunities are available to join the endoscopy team at Torbay Hospital.
The successful applicant will be based in the endoscopy unit, but with the opportunity to work in different areas of the service, gaining experience and knowledge within the inpatient and out patient environments caring for patients with gastrointestinal disease.
The endoscopy unit at Torbay Hospital has been recognised nationally for its high standards of care, recognised as an exemplar site for Endoscopy care, training and Bowel cancer screening.
You will need a mix of skills including the ability to develop effective working relationships and effective time management.

Main duties of the job Communicate verbally with all personnel, departments and agencies relevant to patient care.
Maintain nursing documentation consistently and clearly to support the provision of care.
To monitor and take responsibility for the ordering of accessories and equipment to maintain stock levels as agreed by the manager.
Accept responsibility and participate in personal and professional development.
To develop and maintain positive communication with all members of the team to ensure confidentiality is maintained in accordance with Trust policy.
Follow agreed Unit/Trust policy in relation to personal and patient safety.
Assist in maintaining the department so that the clinical area remains a safe environment for patients, visitors and colleagues.
Report to the registered nurse observations and documentation relating to patient care.
Provide the first assistant role to the endoscopies during a range of procedures and the second assistant role during ERCP and more complex procedures.
Provide patient care to patients undergoing diagnostic procedures as part of the multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

Job description Job responsibilities To assist and support the team in the delivery of high standards of care for the patients, equipment and the environment within several clinical areas.
As a band 3 Healthcare Support Worker with the Torbay and South Devon Foundation Trust, you will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
The Endoscopy Unit staff are committed to providing high standards of care for the people who come to use our services, whilst maintaining their privacy and dignity at all times.
Person Specification Qualifications and Training Essential NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent qualification/experience Desirable Care certificate English & Mathematics at GSCE grade A-C (9-4) or level 2 functional skills Knowledge and experience Essential Previous experience in a care environment or able to demonstrate a caring nature/ life experience Understands the need for strict confidentiality Desirable Working knowledge of complex care needs of some individuals/families including Safeguarding Children & Adults, Domestic Abuse and Mental Health Specific skills Essential Basic computer/keyboard skills Fine motor skills - for venepuncture, phlebotomy and other clinical tasks Good interpersonal and communication skills Able to prioritise and organise work Able to work under instruction, under pressure and as part of a team Record keeping competency in handwritten and electronic records Able to demonstrate empathy, sensitivity, and to adapt communication style to circumstances Able to manage stress in themselves and others Able to offer support at times of emotional distress Willingness to undertake new skills and training Able to work as a team member or independently Ability to adapt behaviour to changing and challenging situations Be flexible, adaptable, reliable and punctual Demonstrate a positive commitment to uphold diversity and equality policies approved by the Trust Desirable Healthcare competencies appropriate to area of work
