Job summary An exciting opportunity has become available, to be the first Junior Sister/Charge Nurse in the Surgical Same Day Emergency Care Service at Worcester Royal Hospital.Surgical SDEC is an expanding multi-speciality unit, providing an alternative front door assessment service, with the ethos of managing patients on the day and avoiding hospital admission.
We are open 8am to Monday to Saturday, with potential for 7 day working in the future.The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day running and co-ordinating of a fast paced environment.
Inclusive of team management, liaising with other areas/departments and members of the MDT.
No two days are the same, and the right person will need to be innovative, passionate and flexible to ensure the service reaches its full potential.The service is constantly developing, and the new Junior Sister/Charge Nurse is pivotal in driving growth and changes within the unit.
You will be supported to develop your leadership skills alongside further training opportunities.
We want someone who is passionate and able to lead from within the team.It can be a challenging environment and prioritisation is key.
The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse will need to be calm, motivated and professional.As a team we are excited for this developing role and look forward to the opportunity that it brings.

Main duties of the job Day to day co-ordinating of the UnitLiaising with other areas and departments/MDT membersProviding expertise within surgical specialityExtended clinical skills, inclusive of cannulation and venepuncture, NG tube insertion, drain and wound management.Supporting junior staffResponsible for staff management, training and development to include PDRs, Sickness managementKnowledge and involvement in incident management, including Datix investigations and reporting.Communicating with the public and patients About us Our purpose is simple - Putting Patients First.
